Portway Dental Centre helps diagnose and treat TMJ problems. Temporomandibular (TM) disorders describe problems with jaw movement and pain in the jaw joints. TM disorders can be called TMJ, TMD, or TM problems. The TM joints connect your lower jawbone (mandible) to the skull and these flexible joints are used to talk, chew, swallow, yawn, and more.
Many patients experience problems with jaw movement and pain in and around their jaw joints during their lifetime. Because the joint and muscle problems are complex, it takes the right experience and knowledge to identify TMJ problems. Treatment may take some time.
